Richard Bachynsky-Hoover is known primarily for his work as an actor, which includes Ron Howard’s 2005 boxing film Cinderella Man, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Giamatti.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in a family with nine boys and a girl, Hoover took up acting relatively late in life (age 30). He appeared with Michael Moriarty in the CBC miniseries Major Crime and over the years shared scenes with Michael Pare, Billy Dee Williams and other notable actors in a variety of supporting roles as gangsters, cops, CIA agents and other tough-guy characters.
